Four grades of xtal resonator 

According to the application situation of xtal resonator and oscillators, they could be divided into four grades: consumer, industrial, automotive and military. They mainly differ in the following 

aspects: operating temperature and frequency stability, reliability (stability, anti-interference),  Seismic and impact resistance, recognized standards and manufacturing process.


Consumer grade

Xtral blank mainly from local, with the advantages of good stability, low cost (mass prosuction) and fast delivery. 

Their operating temperature is -20~70℃, mainly applied in toys, small household appliances, 

consumer electronics that are sensitive to cost and have low requirements for stability.

Industrial grade

Xtral blank mainly from other countries, with higher stability than consumer grade, strong shock resistance and fast delivery. 

However, cost is high. It is widely used in industrial control panel, automotive electronic equipment, medical equipment, various instruments and meters and other electronic products that are vulnerable to external instability, relatively bad or difficult to locate the working environment (such products are generally not in stock, and need to be produced according to requirements).


Automotive grade

The operating temperature range is -40 ~125℃, and its main performance is similar to that of industrial xtal resonator. 

The difference is that the control panel near the automobile engine has more stringent requirements on the operating temperature and shockproof level. xtal resonator manufacturers are required to pass TS16949 system certification, while vehicle navigation, Bluetooth and other requirements are relatively less stringent. After all, it does not affect the driving safety. (It needs to be produced as required).


Military grade

The working temperature range is -40 ~ 150, and the stability requirement is very high. It can meet the use standard of military field, and the delivery period is long. It is mainly used in all kinds of products and non civil equipment control system. 

In most cases, in order to ensure the quality, each  xtal resonator has to carry out long-term reliability test or even ultimate destructive test, so the cost is very high (such products are generally not in stock,it needs to be produced according to the requirements. 

The requirements are very strict, but the dosage is not large).
